First-Quarter Highlight

KaVontae Turpin’s 49-yard punt return for a touchdown, weaving and cutting his way to the end zone, was the first of his career and the first special-teams return for a score for TCU this season.

Second-Quarter Highlight

Aaron Curry’s sack stopped a Kansas drive that had reached TCU territory in a 10-10 game. Kansas went three-and-out on its next six possessions.

Third-Quarter Highlight

Josh Doctson’s 12-yard catch signaled that he is healthy enough, despite a wrist injury that knocked him out of last week’s game. He worked his way over the middle to come open on a quarterback scramble.

Fourth-Quarter Highlight

Shaun Nixon’s 42-yard catch and run for a touchdown, on a throw from Foster Sawyer, gave the Horned Frogs a 20-10 lead. He finished as the leading receiver.

Game balls

RB Shaun Nixon: Led the Horned Frogs in receiving for a second consecutive game. He got away from the defense for a 42-yard touchdown in the third quarter that provided breathing room with a 20-10 lead.

RB Aaron Green: Rushed for a career-high 177 yards on 30 carries. He had a 48-yard run. Provided stability for an offense missing three starters on the offensive line and its quarterback.

LB Ty Summers: Led the Horned Frogs in tackles, and his interception in the fourth quarter helped stop Kansas’ fourth-quarter push for the lead. He also shared in a tackle for loss.

Numbers game

9 Tackles for loss by the TCU defense, most in a Big 12 game for the Horned Frogs this year. They had 11 against Stephen F. Austin

13.5 Sacks by Terrell Lathan, most among active TCU players, after his fourth-quarter sack on fourth down.
