TCU ties for eighth, its top spot in preseason Big 12 hoops poll
TCU basketball debuted in its highest position in the preseason Big 12 poll, tying for eighth with Kansas State.
The Frogs and Wildcats each got 18 points in a 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 points system. The coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
Kansas received nine first-place votes, and Iowa State one. Kansas topped the poll for the fourth consecutive year.
TCU was picked 10th with nine points in 2012, 10th with 12 points in 2013 and ninth with 15 points in 2014.
The Frogs are coming off their winningest season in the Big 12. Last year, they won four games, including their first road victory in the league and their first victory in the Big 12 tournament (over Kansas State).
TCU, with three returning starters from last season’s 18-15 team and the addition of three players expected to push for starting roles, opens its season at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at home against Southeastern Louisiana in the renovated Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.
