Boykin’s rally makes him Big 12’s offensive player of the week

Trevone Boykin is the offensive Player of the Week in the Big 12 following his 425-total-yard performance to rally TCU from an 18-point deficit at Kansas State on Saturday.

The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, keeping the Horned Frogs undefeated with a 52-45 victory after they had trailed 35-17 at halftime.

Boykin’s 14-yard touchdown run cut the lead to 42-37 with 7:55 to go, his 69-yard touchdown run gave TCU a 45-42 lead with 6:07 left, and his 55-yard touchdown throw to Josh Doctson was the game-winner with 1:10 left.

Boykin’s 124 yards rushing were a career high. He completed 20 of 30 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns.

It’s the second time Boykin has won the conference award. He shared it following the SMU game.

Boykin ranks second in the nation in touchdown passes (21), fourth in the nation in passing yards (2,103) and second in total offense (411.5 yards per game).

Boykin is on the watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award, Walter Camp player of the year, Manning Award,

Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Boykin has won the Manning Award’s Star of the Week twice, for the Texas and Texas Tech games, has been the Football Writers Association of America’s national offensive player of the week (for the Texas Tech game) and earned Paul Hornung Award honor-roll recognition (for the Texas Tech game).
