TCU recap: Horned Frogs defeat SMU 56-37
Why TCU won: TCU sealed the win over rival SMU by scoring the game’s last 14 points after SMU outscored the Horned Frogs 17-14 in the third and kicked a field goal early in the fourth quarter to bring the Mustangs to within 42-37. Quarterback Trevone Boykin had six total touchdowns and 454 yards through the air in the win.
Players of the game: TCU receiver Josh Doctson scored two touchdowns on five catches for 171 yards to bring himself within four touchdowns of the TCU career mark set by Josh Boyce (22). Defensive end Josh Carraway came away with 2.5 sacks of dual-threat SMU quarterback Matt Davis. Davis himself had a big night for the Mustangs, going 17-of-31 for 330 yards and three total touchdowns in the loss.
