TCU baseball ended up with a longer path to the Big 12 Tournament championship .
The Horned Frogs fell to the No. 7 seed and didn’t receive a bye to the quarterfinals with the top six seeds. Instead, TCU (33-20) will play in the second round at 10 p.m. Wednesday in Surprise, Arizona, against the winner of Tuesday’s opener between No. 10 Utah and No. 11 Kansas State. The game will be streaming on ESPN+ and on the radio on KTCU 88.7 FM.
If the Horned Frogs win, they will face No. 2 seed West Virginia in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on ESPNU. TCU lost two of three to the Mountaineers to end the regular season, knocking the Horned Frogs from a tie for fifth place in the Big 12 standings to the No. 7 seed.
TCU is on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament and might need to win multiple games in Surprise to lock up a bid.
Last season, third-seeded TCU reached the Big 12 Tournament final before falling to No. 4 Arizona 2-1 in 10 innings.
