TCU men and women earn Big 12 tournament titles, clinch NCAA Tournament bids

Make it two Big 12 tournament championships for TCU tennis.

The No. 2-seeded TCU men rolled to a 4-0 victory over No. 1 Arizona, and the No. 3-seeded TCU women defeated host and No. 1 seed Central Florida 4-1 in the tournament finals Saturday in Orlando, Florida.

Both teams clinched automatic berths to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA selection shows will be held April 27.

The TCU men earned their fourth Big 12 tournament title and first since 2023, while the women claimed their first tournament title.

On the men’s side, the Horned Frogs (21-5) held a higher national ranking at No. 3, but the No. 9 Wilcats (21-4) had earned the Big 12 regular-season title with a 4-0 victory over TCU on March 22.

TCU earned the doubles point against Arizona by winning two of the three matches, then got singles wins from junior Duncan Chan and freshman Oliver Bonding.

Sophomore Roger Pascual clinched the victory by finishing off Alejandro Arcila 6-2, 6-4.

The No. 23 TCU women lost the doubles point, but got singles wins from sophomore Christina Ramos Sierra, freshman Jennifer Jackson and sophomore Cayetana Gay against No. 20 Central Florida.

Junior and No. 1 singles player Raquel Caballero Chica earned the clinching point with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Jantje Tilbuerger.
