Recruiting recap: Which prospects did TCU football land in the month of June?
TCU football program closed the month of June strongly on the recruiting trail as the Horned Frogs landed multiple commitments in the last few weeks.
One of the biggest additions was the commitment of Duncanville wide receiver Ayson ‘Ace’ Theus. Theus committed to the Horned Frogs on Sunday, June 29, and immediately gave TCU one of the most dynamic athletes in the state.
A multi-time state champion, Theus has helped the Panthers become one of the best programs in the country. Last season was Theus’ best as he had 1,081 yards and 11 touchdowns despite sharing targets with former five-star and current Oregon freshman receiver Dakorien Moore.
In 2023 Theus had over 600 yards and two touchdowns while helping Duncanville capture the 6A-Division 1 state championship.
Theus also ran multiple 10.7 sophomore 100-meter times in Spring 2024, per MileSplit. He was also a member of Duncanville’s historic 4x100 relay, which cracked 40.00.
Theus is ranked the No. 104 receiver in the country and the No. 104 prospect in the state according to the 247Sports composite rankings. The Horned Frogs beat out Utah, Oregon State and Pittsburgh for his services.
With his game-breaking speed and championship pedigree, Theus could be an instant impact contributor when he steps on campus.
TCU flips talented defender from Big 12 rival
But Theus isn’t the only recent commitment that could make an early impact. On June 17, TCU also flipped in-state four-star safety Jason Bradford from Oklahoma State.
The 6-foot-2 cornerback is rated the No. 219 prospect nationally by 247Sports and is the second highest rated recruit in TCU’s class behind Arlington Martin standout Jesse Ford.
Bradford finished his junior season at Temple 37 tackles, four interceptions, three tackles for loss and Bradford over 100 yards on his interception returns. It was a solid step up in production after he showed promise as a sophomore with 28 tackles, two tackles for loss and an interception.
“(Bradford) projects to the P4 level as a potential high-major, position-versatile defensive back with physical traits that suggest an eventual ceiling beyond college,” 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks said in Bradford’s scouting report.
Not only did TCU land one of the best defensive backs in the state, they were also able to keep him away from a Big 12 rival.
The Horned Frogs also beat out more in-league rivals for three-star offensive lineman Devan Robison. A standout from Pasadena, Texas, Robison is ranked the No. 590 prospect in the country and a top-100 prospect in the state by 247.
Listed at just under 6-3, Robison committed to TCU over Baylor, Texas Tech, Houston and Stanford on June 24.
Frogs add more playmakers on offense
TCU added three more skill players on offense outside of Theus in June led by three-star running back G’Ivori Graham. From San Antonio, Graham is ranked the No. 44 running back in the country and the No. 115 prospect in the state.
Last year at Harlan High, Graham gained 1,007 scrimmage yards along wiht eight touchdowns in 14 games. He ran for 699 yards and five touchdowns on 8.5 yards per carry, while catching 17 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns on 18.1 per reception.
Graham landed on colleges’ radar during his breakout season as a sophomore where he rushed for 559 yards and seven touchdowns.
“Owns promising physical tools and verified athleticism that suggest ample long-term potential,” Brooks said in his scouting report. “Produces excellent testing and track speed that shows in top-end gear in pads, especially if allowed a clean runway. Good production as a well-rounded back who has caught some passes when asked.”
With Theus and Graham in the fold, TCU has two speedsters that have plenty of upside. To complement the new speed added to the class, the Horned Frogs also brought in bigger-bodied playmakers like three-star receiver James Scott.
Nearly 6-5, Scott is ranked the No. 108 receiver and No. 96 player in Texas. He took an official visit to Fort Worth on June 12 and joined the class a week later, committing to TCU over Houston, Arkansas and Arizona State.
Finally, the Hornd Frogs also added Argyle tight end Braden Bach on June 21. Listed at 6’4.5 and 225 pounds, Bach already has a college-ready frame and he showed promise last season with 26 receptions, 247 yards and three touchdowns.
Bach is already a solid blocker, but if he continues to progress as a receiver then TCU will have another weapon to use in the future.
After the string of commitments, TCU’s recruiting class sits at No. 40 overall with 15 prospects and No. 5 in the Big 12 with more potential commitments coming in the near future.
