Ex-TCU head coach Gary Patterson on ballot for NFF College Football Hall of Fame
The National Football Foundation has released its ballot for the upcoming Hall of Fame class and TCU fans will recognize former head coach Gary Patterson on the list.
Patterson joins 87 other candidates, 79 players and eight head coaches, on the ballot. Nominees will be voted on by the NFF chapter members and academic members, as well as Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) members.
NFF President and CEO Steve Hatchell explained why Paterson and others were put on the ballot.
“For more than 65 years, the NFF College Football Hall of Fame has stood as the sport’s ultimate archive, honoring those whose impact on the game still echoes today,” said Hatchell, “This year’s ballot carries forward that responsibility, spotlighting individuals who not only excelled on the field but also helped define what college football means to so many.”
The results are then adjudicated by the NFF Honors Court, which decides the final members of the class, which will be inducted in January of 2026.
Patterson, the winningest coach in TCU history, spent 22 years coaching the Horned Frogs, ending his tenure with a 181-79 record, including an undefeated 2013 squad that finished their season with a Rose Bowl victory.
