TCU wide receiver Jack Bech picked No. 58 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders
TCU wide receiver Jack Bech was selected with the No. 58 overall pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Friday night.
Bech was one of the biggest surprises nationally last season as Bech went from having just 146 yards in 2023 to being TCU’s leading receiver 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns.
“He’s consistently getting open at the top of routes on top of that he never drops anything,” ESPN draft analyst Field Yates said.
Bech was initially supposed to be a slot receiver, but Bech moved to outside receiver right before the season started and thrived in his new position. Bech had five games with at least 98 yards including a 200-yard performance against Central Florida on Sept. 14.
A high level route runner, Bech excelled at making tough contested catches and also showed he could be a downfield threat as he had four games with a reception that was 40 yards or more.
“If you throw the ball outside of his frame he’s gonna catch it,” Yates said. “You throw him the ball with a defender bearing down on him, he’s going to catch it. He’s tough after the catch.
“I’m not sure there’s any prospect in the entire draft I feel as confident about when you take the combination of not just what you see on the field, but who this player is off the field as a human as well. I love this selection.”
Bech also became a national name due to an unfortunate tragedy as his older brother Tiger was killed during the terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve.
It was a heavy load to bare for Bech, but he used the memory of his brother to help him have an excellent week at Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.
Bech was voted MVP of the Senior Bowl after catching the game-winning touchdown pass.
Bech projects as plug and play contributor from day one with his ability to play inside or outside.
Bech started his career at LSU where he led the Tigers in receptions as a freshman in 2021, but Bech’s production fell in 2022 and he ultimately entered the transfer portal at the end of the season and then landed in Fort Worth.
Bech becomes the latest TCU wide receiver to be drafted high in the draft joining recent Horned Frogs Savion Williams, Quenton Johnston, Derius Davis and Jalen Reagor.
