TCU QB Josh Hoover spurns million-dollar raise from Tennessee to stay with Frogs
Former Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava’s decision to enter the transfer portal sent shockwaves throughout the college football world that reverberated all the way to Fort Worth.
In need of a quarterback, the Volunteers reached out to TCU quarterback Josh Hoover’s representatives according to multiple sources with a strong offer.
Tennessee offered Hoover roughly a $1 million more than he currently makes at TCU but Hoover quickly turned down the Vols to remain in Fort Worth. Hoover already has a seven figure salary in Fort Worth.
Retaining Hoover is a massive win for TCU as Hoover should be one of the top quarterbacks in the Big 12 and in the country overall.
In his first season as a full starter Hoover set a new single season school record for passing yards with 3,949 yards 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Hoover led TCU to a 9-4 record and a win in the New Mexico Bowl over Louisiana.
Hoover has had a strong spring camp and has shown strides with his decision making and willingness to scramble outside of the pocket.
