TCU women’s basketball falls two spots in latest AP poll after road loss to Kansas State
After going 1-1 in Big 12 play last week, TCU women’s basketball fell two spots in the most recent Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Horned Frogs were slotted at No. 11 this week after losing at Kansas State, 59-50, on Feb. 5. The Horned Frogs bounced back with an impressive 63-42 win over Texas Tech on Sunday.
TCU’s schedule eases up a bit this week as the Horned Frogs host BYU (12-11, 3-9) on Tuesday and then travel to Arizona (15-10, 6-6) on Sunday. Both teams are near the bottom of the conference, so both games are must-wins.
The Horned Frogs are currently battling No. 14 Kansas State and No. 25 Baylor for first place in the league. The Wildcats briefly took sole possession of first place after defeating TCU, but K-State was then upset 85-55 at Oklahoma State, which caused the Wildcats to fall in the poll.
TCU (22-3, 10-2), K-State (22-3, 10-2) and Baylor (20-5, 10-2) are all tied with the same conference record, but the Wildcats own the tiebreaker over TCU.
That’s why it’ll be essential for TCU to avoid upsets this week as the program could build a small lead in the standings. The Horned Frogs will tip off against BYU at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN+.
