TCU’s Jack Bech scores winning touchdown in Senior Bowl, is named MVP

TCU wide receiver Jack Bech continued his national breakout with the winning touchdown in the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday in Mobile, Alabama.

Bech was also voted Senior Bowl MVP with six receptions, 68 yards and the winning score. Memphis quarterback Seth Henigan, a former Denton Ryan alum, made the pass to Bech on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line as the American team defeated the National team 22-19.

It was a storybook ending for Bech, who recently lost his brother Tiger in the New Orleans truck attack in the early hours of New Year’s Day. Tiger, Jack’s older brother, was a standout at Princeton.

After the game, Bech said he felt Tiger with him during the game and throughout the week when he made the case of being one of the best wide receivers at the event.

“My brother had some wings on me, he gave them to and he let all of that take place,” Bech said in his postgame interview about his game-winning touchdown. “Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, Tiger, it was nothing else but them. They’re the reason I did what I did today. I’m just the physical person doing it, I attribute it all to them.”

Bech was also voted the best wide receiver on the American team by the defensive backs during the Practice Player of the Week ceremony before the game.

Bech was one of the biggest surprises this season as he led TCU with 1,034 receiving yards and nine touchdowns after having only 146 in his first season with TCU in 2023.

There might not be a player who helped his draft stock more than Bech, who showcased his skills against some of the best and most experienced secondary players in the country.

After a great week, Bech could find himself as a Day 2 prospect in the NFL Draft set for April 24-26.
