Bracketology watch: Is TCU women’s basketball trending toward a top four seed in March?
In the midst of another historic start to the season, TCU women’s basketball feels like a virtual lock to make it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
Not only will the Horned Frogs (17-1, 5-0) make the field, but there’s a good chance TCU will receive a top four seed and host first- and second-round games.
In ESPN’s latest bracketology update for women’s basketball, analyst Charlie Creme has TCU projected as a No. 3 seed in the Spokane region.
The Horned Frogs would host No. 14 seed Albany and the winner of the No. 6 and 11 seed in Fort Worth in Creme’s projection. Another bracketology website, herhoopstats.com, also projects TCU as a No. 3 seed in the Spokane region.
It should be noted that both updates came on Friday, right before the Horned Frogs blew out Texas Tech 69-43 on the road.
Hailey Van Lith led TCU with 22 points, seven assists and four rebounds while Sedona Prince added 20 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
As it stands, the Horned Frogs have a strong resume with a number of marquee games left in Big 12 play. According to the latest NCAA NET rankings, TCU is currently ranked No. 8 with an impressive 4-1 record in Quad 1 and Quad 2 games.
The wins over Notre Dame and North Carolina State have continued to age well as the Fighting Irish are ranked No. 7 and NC State is ranked No. 21.
The Horned Frogs will host UCF at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
