TCU football: A look at the incoming, outgoing transfers for the 2025 season
The first transfer portal window has officially closed for TCU football and after the dust has settled, the Horned Frogs have added a number of impact players while not losing much in return.
The Horned Frogs did lose a starting offensive lineman and a young quarterback. However, TCU also added eight transfers to a star-studded incoming freshman class including a star receiver from the FCS level.
Here’s a look at incoming and outgoing transfers:
Incoming transfers
Idaho wide receiver Jordan Dwyer: Dwyer is the highest ranked transfer in TCU’s class and fills a massive need with TCU losing Savion Williams, Jack Bech and JP Richardson. Dwyer had 1,192 yards and 12 touchdowns in a breakout season for the Vandals. He’s rated a four-star transfer by 247Sports and should be a solid addition to Eric McAlister, who will be TCU’s No. 1 receiver next year.
Houston wide receiver Joseph Manjack IV: Another receiver pickup, Manjack is an experienced receiver that the Horned Frogs went hard after to land. Manjack had 577 yards and six touchdowns in 2023 and 351 yards and three touchdowns this season. Manjack could have a breakout season in a much more pass heavy offense.
Washington cornerback Elijah Jackson: Jackson was the hero of Washington’s College Football Playoff semifinals win over Texas last season as he made the game-winning pass breakup on the final play of the Sugar Bowl. Jackson is a multi-year starter and could be a plug-and-play starter for TCU.
LSU safety Kylin Jackson: A former four-star recruit in the 2023 class, Jackson was a reserve at LSU the past two seasons behind older players. Jackson will have a chance to compete for a much bigger role at TCU.
Washington State defensive lineman Ansel Din-Mbuh: The former Aledo standout was a significant addition for TCU as he should help bolster the pass rush after Din-Mbuh had six sacks this past season for the Cougars.
Incarnate World offensive tackle Rasheed Jackson: A former Duncanville standout, Jackson was voted second-team All-Southland Conference this season for the Cardinals after appearing in 14 games in 2024.
LSU tight end Ka’Morreun Pimpton: A former standout at North Crowley, Pimpton is another former Tiger looking for a bigger role after playing behind star tight end Mason Taylor. Pimpton had six receptions for 79 yards and will compete with DJ Rogers and Lafayette Kaiuway next season.
UTSA running back Kevorian Barnes: Barnes is an interesting pickup for TCU. Barnes is coming off a career-low 221 yards with the Roadrunners, but in the previous two seasons he rushed for 715 yards in 2023 and 851 yards in 2022 when he was voted Conference USA Freshman of the Year. At worst, Barnes will be a depth piece for the running back room or maybe he could regain his form from earlier in his career.
Outgoing transfers
Quarterback Hauss Hejny: The freshman quarterback and former Aledo star entered the transfer portal shortly before the New Mexico Bowl due to concerns about future playing time. Hejny signed with Oklahoma State.
Safety Abe Camara: The nickel safety jumped into the transfer portal on Jan. 6 and will try to take advantage of the latest NCAA rulings that allow former junior college players with expiring eligibility in 2024 to have an additional season in 2025. However, Camara already played four full seasons at TCU, it remains to be seen if he’ll be eligible at his next spot. Camara started over 20 games for the Horned Frogs.
Running back Cam Cook: Cook started the season as the starting running back, but eventually fell behind Trent Battle and Jeremy Payne. Cook rushed for 460 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Cook remains unsigned.
Center James Brockermeyer: After transferring in from Alabama, Brockermeyer started 12 games for TCU this season before entering the portal and landing with the Hurricanes.
Offensive lineman Mike Stoker: A reserve offensive lineman from South Oak Cliff, Stoker entered the portal on Jan. 2.
Linebacker Kylan Salter: The former Cedar Hill alum was a reserve linebacker at TCU and entered the portal to join his older brother Kaidon Salter at Colorado with Deion Sanders.
Defensive lineman Keviyan Huddleston: Huddleston was a 2023 recruit that didn’t see much action. He has yet to find a new home, but recently picked up an offer from North Texas.
Cornerback Julian Knox: The freshman defensive back played in four games this season, but entered the transfer portal on New Year’s Day.
Wide receiver JoJo Earle: The former Alabama transfer arrived at TCU with high expectations, but was never able to carve out a big role due to injuries and a lack of production. Earle signed with UNLV and new coach Dan Mullen.
Linebacker Shad Banks: Banks was another fan favorite that had some big moments during his career in Fort Worth. He had 62 tackles in 2023 as a starter, but had just one this season due to injuries. Banks signed with UTSA.
Safety Richard Toney: TCU signed Toney as a transfer last season from Nevada and he was a reserve this season with nine tackles. Toney signed with Purdue.
Linebacker Terrence Cooks Jr.: Another reserve linebacker, Cooks had two tackles this season. Cooks signed with Texas State.
Running back Dominique Johnson: Johnson was a late addition to the roster from Arkansas and was used as a goal line back. Johnson rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown for TCU. He remains unsigned.
Offensive lineman Marcus Williams: Williams played sparingly over the last few seasons and entered the portal in November. He remains unsigned.
