TCU finds its next athletic director. Official announcement expected soon.

TCU’s search for an athletic director is over.

The Star-Telegram confirmed on Tuesday that current Army AD Mike Buddie will be the next AD for the Horned Frogs.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel was among the first to report the news.

Buddie brings a wealth of experience to replace Jeremiah Donati, who left Fort Worth to become the AD at South Carolina.

TCU baseball coach Kirk Saarloos posted “Let’s go!!! Congrats @Buddie52” on the social media platform X on Tuesday.

An official announcement could come later this week or early next week.

Buddie has been the athletic director at Army since 2019. Before his time in West Point Buddie was also the AD at Furman, where negotiated a multi-year partnership with Nike and spearheaded an effort to bring the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament back to upstate South Carolina in 2017.

He also was able to secure three separate $1 million endowments in support of the football and volleyball programs.

Buddie, 54, had a stint in Major League Baseball with the New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers.

After retiring in 2003, Buddie started his career in athletic administration. He spent nearly a decade in Wake Forest, working numerous positions before getting a shot to run the athletic department at Furman.
