Which former TCU star had a big game in his first start of the 2024 NFL season?
Former TCU standout Andy Dalton led the Carolina Panthers to their first win of the season on Sunday, a 36-22 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Replacing benched starting quarterback Bryce Young, Dalton completed 26 of 37 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns.
Young started the first two games of the season for the Panthers, losing both by wide margins to the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers.
Dalton threw touchdown passes to Chubba Hubbard (6 yards in the first quarter), to Dionte Johnson (5 yards in the second quarter) and Adam Thielen (31 yards in the second quarter).
The Panthers built a 33-7 lead before the Raiders rallied to make the game close.
Dalton played for the TCU Horned Frogs from 2007-10, playing 50 games. He completed 812 of 1,317 passes for 10,314 yards and 71 touchdowns.
Picked by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2011 draft, Dalton started for the Bengals from 2011-19 until moving on as a part-time starter and backup in Dallas (2020), Chicago (2021), New Orleans (2022) and Carolina (2023-24).
Prior to Sunday’s start, he had played in 170 NFL games, completing 3,408 of 5,455 yards for 38,511 yards and 246 touchdowns.
