Why did Deion Sanders turn over the Colorado roster? He told Troy Aikman in specific terms

Why did first-year Colorado coach Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, turn over the Buffaloes roster so dramatically when he arrived in Boulder?

In an interview with former Dallas Cowboys teammate Troy Aikman on ESPN’s GameDay, Sanders didn’t hold back.

“Our roster was horrible,” Sanders said in an interview broadcast on Saturday.

Sanders has been criticized for turning the Buffaloes roster over, bringing in more than 60 transfers to a program that went 1-11 last year.

“It’s really not unconventional, we just did it at an alarming rate,” Sanders said.

He said he only talked to about 20 players about how they would not be asked to return to the 2023 season. He said “the rest of them quit.”

Sanders and the Buffaloes opened the season against TCU on Saturday.
