Former TCU center Eddie Lampkin Jr. has entered the transfer portal.

Multiple reports surfaced Monday morning and Lampkin confirmed them with a retweet on his personal Twitter page that said “God’s Plan.”

Lampkin was a fan favorite during his time at TCU and captivated America during the Horned Frogs’ NCAA tournament run last year. Lampkin had 20 points and 14 rebounds in a narrow loss to Arizona.

The performance increased Lampkin’s starpower around Fort Worth and he signed name, image and likeness deals that totaled at least $100,000.

However, Lampkin’s time with TCU came to a rough close as Lampkin stepped away from the program before the Big 12 tournament and then his mother accused coach Jamie Dixon of mistreatment and using racial comments in a now-deleted Instagram post.

Before the accusation, Lampkin was unable to build on the March Madness performance as he dealt with an ankle injury in late January. The injury combined with a lack of practice time saw Lampkin’s production drop across the board before entering the portal.

He averaged 6.3 points and 5.9 rebounds in 24 games during the 2022-23 season.

He will forever be remembered for his 20-point, 14-rebound game against Arizona in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Houston is one school to keep an eye on for Lampkin. The Cougars join the Big 12 next season.

Houston is Lampkin’s hometown. He attended Morton Ranch High School where he was a four-star recruit.
