TCU prepares for the third annual College Baseball Showdown
The third annual College Baseball Showdown, presented by Higginbotham, will take place at Globe Life Field beginning on Feb. 17.
The three-day tournament will feature six teams from the Big 12 and SEC. The tournament is stacked with elite competition. Five of the six teams are ranked in the USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Top 25.
The teams participating are No. 6 Arkansas, No. 8 Oklahoma State University, No. 9 Vanderbilt, No. 17 TCU, No. 24 Texas and Missouri.
This will be the Horned Frogs second appearance in the College Baseball Showdown.
TCU was voted as the No. 1 team in the 2023 Big 12 Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll.
“Someone’s going to go 0-3 and go to College World Series,“ TCU Head Coach Kirk Saarloos said. “That’s how strong the field is.”
Starting off the season by playing stout competition could help TCU prepare for the rigors of Big 12 play.
“This is going to prepare us for our conference as well, our conference is as deep as it’s ever been,” Saarloos said. “ I think we’re just gonna be able to learn a ton about ourselves and no better way to do it than the first weekend.”
Saarloos is ready for the opportunity to play some of the best teams in the nation.
“I’m really excited for our guys to be able to go out and test themselves against not only phenomenal teams but... an awesome group of Division 1 baseball head coaches.”
