TCU lands Oklahoma State transfer receiver John Paul Richardson
TCU has added another receiver via the transfer portal.
Oklahoma State transfer wide receiver John Paul Richardson announced on Wednesday he would joining the Horned Frogs. A 6-foot sophomore, Richardson was one of the Cowboys’ leading receivers.
He was second on the team with 49 catches and fourth on the roster with 503 yards. His four touchdowns were also second most for Oklahoma State.
One of those touchdowns came against TCU as Richardson had five receptions for 51 yards in the Horned Frogs’ 43-40 win on Oct. 15. It’s another solid pickup via the portal for Coach Sonny Dykes.
TCU will have to replace its three-leading receivers with Quentin Johnston expected to declare for the NFL draft and Derius Davis and Taye Barber running out of eligibility. Richardson joins LSU’s Jack Bech and Alabama’s JoJo Earle as portal additions to the receiver room.
Incoming true freshman Cordale Russell could also be in line for significant snaps after an impressive week at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio last week. TCU’s transfer class is currently ranked No. 18 in the country and the Horned Frogs aren’t finished.
Jackson State offensive lineman Willis Patrick could join the fold soon and TCU is also in the mix for California transfer receiver J. Michael Sturdivant. Sturdivant had 755 yards and seven touchdowns for the Golden Bears in 2022.
