Looking ahead: TCU hosts Deion Sanders’ Colorado coaching debut in September
TCU’s 2022 season ended Monday with the 65-7 loss to Georgia in the College Football Championship game at SoFi Stadium.
It’s now time to look ahead to the 2023 season.
It begins in 236 days.
How do you top such a memorable season which included a unbeaten regular-season, a heart-wrenching overtime loss to Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game, a thrilling victory over Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl and matchup against Georgia in the national championship game?
Well, you can’t.
But the national attention will again be on the Horned Frogs when they open their season in September.
And it has nothing to do with competing in the national title game,
The Horned Frogs will host the Colorado Buffaloes and their new head coach, Deion Sanders, at Amon G. Carter Stadium on Sept. 2. It will be Sanders’ debut as a Power 5 head coach.
It would not be surprising for one of the networks to grab the game and schedule it for prime time. Pun intended.
Sanders, the former Dallas Cowboys legend, took over for Karl Dorrell last month. Dorrell was fired in the midst of the Buffaloes’ 1-11 season. The Horned Frogs beat 38-13 on Sept. 2, 2022.
The Horned Frogs’ other non-conference games include home dates against Nicholls on Sept. 9 and SMU on Sept. 23. The Big 12 schedule will be released later this spring.
