TCU’s leading rusher Kendre Miller left Fiesta Bowl after first-half knee injury
TCU running back Kendre Miller has left the game after he injured his right knee in the first half against Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl.
Miller, TCU’s leading rusher, received treatment at halftime and played in the first series of the second half (one carry for one yard) before he left the game.
He finished with eight carries for 57 yards. Miller, a junior, had 1,342 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns during the season.
He was replaced by senior Emari Demercado, who had 29 yards on five carries on the Frogs’ first scoring drive of the third quarter. Demercado finished the third quarter with 138 yards on 12 carries, including a 69-yarder to the 1-yard line. Quarterback Max Duggan ran it in on the next play to put TCU up 41-22.
DeMarcado finished the game with 17 carries for 150 yards, just the second time this season that Michigan allowed a 100-yard rusher. The Horned Frogs rushed 41 times for 263 yards in the game.
Time will tell if Miller is able to get healthy before the national championship game against Georgia on Jan. 9.
