TCU football lands commitments from two more 4-star recruits, improves 2023 class rank
While many were getting ready for bed late Friday night, TCU coach Sonny Dykes was still putting in work on the recruiting trail.
After landing Arlington Seguin safety Jamel Johnson, the Horned Frogs landed two more four-star recruits. The first was Florida transfer cornerback Avery Helm.
Then four-star safety Randon Fontenette from Freeport, Texas, joined the fold.
Helm was a four-star recruit in the 2020 class and is originally from Missouri City, Texas. Helm started four games this past season and nine in 2021 for the Gators.
The two-time 5A Division II state champion finished his career with Florida with 31 tackles and four passes defended in three seasons. Helm should be able to jump in and contribute right away with his experience in the SEC.
Fontenette is rated the No. 29 safety nationally and a top-60 prospect in the state of Texas according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
A former Utah commit, the 6-1, 189-pounder decommitted from the Utes in November and chose TCU over the likes of Texas Tech and USC.
His commitment pushed TCU up to No. 18 in the 2023 class rankings and further strengthens the future of the TCU secondary.
