TCU quarterback Chandler Morris will miss at least one game after sustaining a knee injury at Colorado.

Head coach Sonny Dykes said Monday that Morris sprained his knee in the third quarter against the Buffaloes, but it doesn’t appear the injury is too serious.

“Chandler won’t play this week and then after that it’ll be kind of week-to-week. He’s got a sprained knee, not severely sprained, but it’s one of those deals where we’ll immobilize him for a couple of days and try to get any out swelling,” Dykes said. “We’ll play this week, fortunately we have an open week next week and we’ll reevaluate and see where we are.”

Morris was 13-of-20 for 111 yards and led two scoring drives in the second half before getting hurt while being tackled on a quarterback run play. He added 18 yards on the ground.

Max Duggan filled in for Morris after the injury and threw for 27 yards and rushed for 41 yards. Dykes said he believes Duggan will be the starter against the Texans, though the staff will evaluate this week of practice.

“My guess it will be (his job). We’ll see how the week goes, it’ll be the same thing at every position. We’ll just see who practices the best and then that will be the guy that starts,” Dykes said. “I think Max will probably start, but I imagine Sam will play.”

In other injury news, linebacker Thomas Armstrong will miss the rest of the year after tearing his ACL. It’s a significant injury as Armstrong was the first linebacker off the bench against Colorado. Armstrong was one of the breakout players during training camp.

“He will not play for the rest of the year. Disappointing for Thomas, it was just kind of one of those strange ones. He ran down on kickoff and barely got bumped and just landed funny. Won’t have him for the year. I hate that for Thomas, he had a great fall camp and was somebody we were excited about,” Dykes said.

The Horned Frogs will already be without reserve linebacker Marcel Brooks for the foreseeable future and now will be without another key piece.

Dykes also said starting free safety Bud Clark is getting closer to returning to the field. He missed the Colorado game and Abe Camara filled in at his spot.
