‘My right hand man.’ TCU baseball losing associate coach Bill Mosiello to Ohio State
TCU baseball associate head coach Bill Mosiello is leaving to take the head job at Ohio State.
Mosiello, who has been a Horned Frogs assistant since the summer of 2013, has served as third base coach and primary hitting coach during his tenure. The Frogs reached four consecutive College World Series (2014-17) during his tenure.
TCU coach Kirk Saarloos confirmed the news in a post on social media Wednesday evening. D-1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers originally reported the Buckeyes’ interest in Mosiello. Mosiello has previously been a candidate for other jobs. Before joining TCU, he was an assistant at Tennessee for two seasons.
“Today is a bittersweet day for @TCU_Baseball and my family,” Saarloos posted in a message on Twitter. “There is no one that deserves to be a Head Coach more than Bill Mosiello. My right hand man, my friend and mentor.”
Under Mosiello, TCU has ranked in the top 50 in runs per game in six of the past nine seasons.
Saarloos just finished his first season as TCU’s head coach after replacing Jim Schlossnagle, who left for Texas A&M a year ago. Saarloos has been at TCU since 2012.
