TCU basketball will explore other options after missing out on transfer Adam Miller
Adam Miller isn’t bringing his talents to Fort Worth.
Miller announced that he’d be staying at LSU on Friday, withdrawing his name from the transfer portal. TCU basketball was the other school in his final two.
The Frogs will continue to explore transfer options as they have two scholarships available for next season.
Among guards in the transfer portal include Oklahoma State’s Rondel Walker, who averaged 4.9 points a game as a sophomore last season. Walker saw his field goal percentage and 3-point percentage dip from his freshman to sophomore season but is viewed as a potential fit for the Frogs.
There’s a number of other players who could fall in the same boat.
As far as Miller, TCU was considered among the favorites since he entered the portal. Miller was a member of Team USA’s U19 roster last summer, which was coached by TCU’s Jamie Dixon. TCU star guard Mike Miles played with Miller on the team.
The U19 team, which won the gold medal, held tryouts on TCU’s campus last summer. But Miller will not be returning anytime soon.
Miller entered the portal as LSU is in a coaching transition, firing Will Wade late in the season and bringing in Murray State’s Matt McMahon to take over the program.
Miller didn’t play last season, sustaining a season-ending ACL injury before the season. He spent his first college season with Illinois in 2020-21, averaging 8.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 25.5 minutes per game.
Miller was a four-star prospect coming out of Morgan Park High School in the Chicago area.
Even though it missed out on Miller, TCU has become a more desirable destination following its historic season. The Frogs ended a 35-year drought between NCAA Tournament victories and had 1-seed Arizona on the ropes before falling in overtime.
