TCU football has landed its second commitment for the 2023 recruiting class
TCU football doubled the size of its 2023 recruiting class on Tuesday night.
Melissa offensive tackle Trevor Goosby announced his intentions to play for the Horned Frogs, becoming the second player committed to next year’s class.
“After a long talk with my family and my coaches, I’d like to announce that I have verbally committed to the TCU Horned Frogs!!” Goosby wrote on Twitter.
Goosby tagged TCU coach Sonny Dykes, offensive coordinator Garrett Riley and offensive line coach A.J. Ricker in the announcement.
Goosby is ranked as a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports. He is listed at 6-foot-7, 280 pounds. Along with TCU, other schools who offered him included Kansas, SMU, Colorado State, Jackson State, UTSA, North Texas and Tulsa.
Goosby joins Denton Ryan wide receiver Jordyn Bailey as commits for the 2023 class. Bailey is also a three-star prospect.
Transfer watch
TCU remains in the mix for a couple of notable players in the NCAA transfer portal including defensive tackle Tymon Mitchell (Georgia) and wide receiver Jaylon Robinson (UCF), according to a source.
Mitchell, who spent the last three seasons with the Bulldogs, recently visited TCU’s campus. He had a reserve role last season, registering six tackles in six games.
Robinson, a Fort Worth All Saints product, had 18 catches for 322 yards and two TDs for UCF last season. He had a breakout year in 2020, finishing with 55 catches for 979 yards and six TDs.
As far as the quarterback situation, a source reiterated that TCU feels good about that position following the spring season. Senior Max Duggan and redshirt freshman Chandler Morris showed enough potential where the staff feels good about one of them winning the job in fall camp.
