TCU basketball is still projected as a March Madness team by several “bracketology” experts.

The Horned Frogs, though, continue to flirt with the dreaded “bubble” of late. They have lost four of their last five games, including a loss at No. 20 Texas on Wednesday night. TCU blew a 10-point second half lead in what could have been a signature win down the stretch.

Now the Frogs face the toughest stretch in the country with three straight games against top-10 programs. They host No. 9 Texas Tech on Saturday followed by back-to-back games against No. 5 Kansas next week.

TCU will likely have to find a way to win at least one of these next three games to feel better about its NCAA Tournament dreams. With that being said, here’s everything else you need to know going into the game:

The Details

When/where: 5 p.m. Saturday, Schollmaier Arena, Fort Worth

TV/radio: ESPN2 (Mark Neely, Tim Welsh); KLIF (570 AM) with Brian Estridge and John Denton

Records: TCU 17-8, 6-7 Big 12; Texas Tech 22-6, 11-4 Big 12

About TCU: TCU has lost four of its last five games. ... TCU defeated Texas Tech in the last meeting in Fort Worth, a 65-54 victory on Jan. 21, 2020. ... The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 86-52 and are 33-32 in games played in Fort Worth. ... The Frogs had 20 turnovers in the first meeting in Lubbock. ... Half of TCU’s shot attempts (27 of 54) were from 3-point range in the first meeting. The Frogs made 11 of them, but the deep ball is not something they want to rely on.

About Texas Tech: The Red Raiders are on a four-game winning streak. ... Tech hasn’t been the best road team in the Big 12, falling to schools such as Iowa State, K-State and Oklahoma away from home. ... Terrence Shannon Jr. led the Red Raiders with 20 points in their victory over the Frogs earlier this season in Lubbock. ... Tech’s Bryson Williams leads the Big 12 in field goal percentage at 53.5%.

Projected lineups

TCU: Mike Miles, Damion Baugh, Chuck O’Bannon Jr., Emanuel Miller, Eddie Lampkin

Texas Tech: Kevin Obanor, Bryson Williams, Davion Warren, Terrence Shannon, Jr., Adonis Arms

Prediction

TCU has won games it should’ve lost and lost games it should’ve won. That’s probably the case for every Big 12 school. This feels like a game Texas Tech should win, but it hasn’t played great on the road. So we’ll take TCU pulling off the upset and bolstering its March Madness resume. TCU 66, Texas Tech 63.
