Former TCU football teammates reach Super Bowl LVI with Los Angeles Rams

TCU football will be represented at the Super Bowl once again.

Former Frog teammates linebacker Travin Howard and offensive lineman Joe Noteboom are playing for the Los Angeles Rams, who won the NFC title on Sunday. The Rams will face the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI on Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Howard had a memorable moment in the title game, producing the game-sealing interception with just over a minute remaining in the Rams’ 20-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Howard also had two tackles in the game, including one for a loss.

Howard, TCU’s all-time leading tackler in the Gary Patterson era with 343 tackles from 2014-17, was a seventh-round pick by the Rams in 2018. He joined TCU as a three-star safety prospect out of Longview High as part of the 2014 class.

Noteboom, meanwhile, was inactive for the Rams in the title game but was the starting left tackle and played every offensive snap in the Rams’ 30-27 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round on Jan. 23. He made two starts and played in 15 games during the regular season.

Noteboom played at TCU from 2013-17, redshirting in 2013 and starting all 40 games his final three seasons. He was taken in the third round of the 2018 draft, also by the Rams. He joined the Frogs as a three-star prospect out of Plano High School as part of the 2013 class.

With Howard and Noteboom reaching the Super Bowl, TCU has now had former players on a Super Bowl team in eight of the last nine and 11 of the last 14.

TCU has had 31 players reach the Super Bowl during the 56-year history of the game, with 20 players being part of at least one world championship.
