TCU basketball is coming off its biggest ranked road victory in program history, knocking off Iowa State on Saturday.

That generated some buzz locally but the Horned Frogs aren’t making too much noise nationally. The latest AP Top 25 poll released Monday had TCU in the “receiving votes” category once again, and not really close to cracking the rankings.

Only two AP voters had TCU on the ballot (Stephen Tsai of the Honolulu Star Advertiser had it at No. 22 and Bruce Pascoe of the Arizona Daily Star had it at No. 24).

“Rankings don’t mean nothing. It’s just a number,” said TCU guard Damion Baugh, who had a career-high 23 points and seven steals against Iowa State.

Baugh and the rest of the team are more concerned about what happens at the end of the season. And they’re confident they’ll be worthy of a March Madness invitation.

“We like our chances, of course,” Baugh said. “We know we’re a tournament team.”

Prediction

This has the makings for yet another low-scoring affair that will come down to the final minutes. TCU gets the edge as the home team and the thought that Mike Miles snaps out of his shooting slump. TCU 61, Texas 57.
