TCU football sees another defensive player enter the NCAA transfer portal
Another TCU football player is headed to the NCAA transfer portal.
Junior cornerback Kee’yon Stewart is leaving the program after the three seasons, he announced in a social media post. Stewart will have three seasons of eligibility left with the NCAA freezing status during the 2020 season amid the pandemic and Stewart qualifying for a redshirt season in 2021.
“Been in the shadows for too long,” Stewart wrote.
Stewart played in three games this season, registering five tackles with one interception. His interception came in TCU’s upset victory over then-No. 12 Baylor on Nov. 6.
Stewart is the fifth TCU player to enter the portal within the last week — all on the defensive side. Fellow defensive backs Da’Veawn Armstead, Donavann Collins and Ahomonte Watkins are in the portal along with defensive end Chris Murray. Watkins served as an emergency running back for TCU late in the season but worked with the cornerbacks much of the season.
Safety Michael Onyemaobi entered the portal last week as did defensive tackle Earl Barquet, who has since landed at USC.
TCU running back Zach Evans remains in the portal as well, but TCU officials remain hopeful that he’ll return to the Frogs for his junior season.
