Wes Harris is expected to return for ‘super senior’ season with TCU football
Wes Harris still has some football left in him.
Harris is expected to return to TCU for the 2022 season, a source told the Star-Telegram on Sunday night.
Harris, who had a standout high school career at Aledo, is one of the strongest guys on the team but battled through knee injuries much of this season. Injuries limited Harris to only four games in 2021.
Harris also battled through injuries in 2020 (four games played) and 2019 (two games played). When healthy, though, Harris is a force on the offensive line. This is a guy who bench presses 530 pounds, squats 705 pounds and has a 470-pound hang clean.
Harris joined TCU as a four-star recruit out of Aledo in 2017. He burned his redshirt season in 2017 but has gained an extra year of eligibility with the NCAA freezing 2020 status amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Daniels TBD
Similar to Harris, cornerback Noah Daniels joined the program as part of the 2017 class and has the option to return in 2022. But sources close to Daniels indicate that he plans to wait for his NFL Draft grade this week before making a decision.
Daniels’ decision is expected to be based solely on the NFL Draft grade, rather than whoever TCU brings in as defensive coordinator.
Daniels was projected as a potential first-round talent going into the 2021 season but was limited to just five games. He had five tackles on the season. Daniels also had an injury-plagued 2020 season.
The last few seasons likely haven’t boosted his draft stock as desired but Daniels is still an NFL prospect with his speed (TCU says he’s run a 4.27-second 40-yard dash) and skill set.
Eze gone
One player who has already made his intentions known is left tackle Obinna Eze.
Eze, a transfer from Memphis, started all 12 games at left tackle for the Frogs last season and declared for the draft on Sunday night.
Eze helped TCU rank 37th in the country in total offense after the regular season, with 435.8 yards per game.
