TCU basketball played its first game away from home on Monday night. It’s one the Frogs would like to forget.

Santa Clara dominated TCU in an 85-66 victory at the SoCal Challenge in San Juan Capistrano, California.

The Frogs (3-1) lost the rebounding battle 39-24, and saw the Broncos make 69% of their 3-point attempts (11 of 16). Santa Clara (5-0) finished by making 61% of its shots from the field.

“We got outplayed in pretty much every facet,” TCU coach Jamie Dixon said. “I’m a little surprised it happened. I’m really surprised about the rebounding.

“Everything we said we were going to do ... we didn’t do.”

TCU guard Maxwell Evans led the team with 15 points. Mike Miles and Micah Peavy both finished with 10 points.

Santa Clara’s Jalen Williams had a game high 22 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists.

TCU closes its SoCal Challenge appearance against Pepperdine on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on CBSSN.
