TCU football at No. 10 Oklahoma State: Kickoff time, TV, betting line, radio, prediction
Jerry Kill and Mike Gundy go back decades. Seriously.
TCU’s interim coach and the longtime Oklahoma State coach crossed paths in 1984 at Midwest City (Oklahoma) High School. Kill coached the tight ends and taught biology that year, while Gundy was the star quarterback.
Kill doesn’t remember much about teaching biology some 37 years ago, but coaching on a team with Gundy left a lasting impression.
“You knew that he was going to be a coach,” Kill said. “He was a leader, an outstanding leader in high school. He was very smart and studied the game. He was way beyond his years and that’s what made him a good player.
“And the biggest thing he did was he knew how to win.”
Gundy has Oklahoma State winning in big ways this season. The Cowboys (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) are ranked No. 10 in the country and in position to compete for the Big 12 championship next month at AT&T Stadium.
The Frogs (4-5, 2-4), meanwhile, returned to their winning ways last weekend under Kill. Kill has stepped up with TCU and longtime coach Gary Patterson parting ways on Halloween.
With that being said, here’s everything you need to know going into it:

DID YOU KNOW?
Along with the Kill and Gundy connection, TCU offensive coordinator Doug Meacham was teammates with Gundy at Oklahoma State for two seasons (1986-87). ... TCU is playing its second game without Gary Patterson on the sidelines since the 1997 season. Patterson joined TCU as its defensive coordinator in 1998 and was elevated to head coach in December 2000. ... Oklahoma State leads the all-time series 16-13-2. ... TCU is 45-22 on the road since 2009, which is tied for the sixth-best road record in the country.
PREDICTION
TCU rallied together and delivered a victory in the first game without Patterson last week. Can that carry into a road game? Maybe, but the Cowboys aren’t going to overlook the Frogs. And Oklahoma State’s defense is playing its best football of the season, which doesn’t bode well for Chandler Morris making his second start. Oklahoma State 34, TCU 20.
