Zach Evans changed his Instagram, and it sent TCU football fans into a frenzy
A college student updating their social media profile likely wouldn’t create much of a stir. That’s a fairly common occurrence, you’d think.
But Zach Evans isn’t your typical college student. The TCU star running back updated his Instagram profile, scrubbing his account of anything TCU-related, and several jumped to the conclusion that the highest-rated recruit in program history was heading to the transfer portal.
Pro Football Focus’ college account hinted that may be the case by posting a picture on Twitter with Evans’ Instagram account, writing: “Zach Evans removed all mentions of TCU on his IG” with an eyes emoji.
“One of the best RBs in the country …” PFF added.
Well, Evans is one of the top running backs in the country … for TCU.
Evans practiced with the team on Tuesday and a high-level source within the program said that “all is good” on Wednesday. Evans practiced again Wednesday afternoon with the team, a source added, and has since added a picture of him in a TCU uniform back to his Instagram profile.
The joys of social media.
Evans, a five-star prospect out of Houston North Shore who was once regarded as the country’s No. 1 overall prospect in the 2020 class, has been regarded as a model student-athlete since arriving on campus. He earned academic All-Big 12 rookie team honors last year and has become an impact player on the field.
Evans is leading the team with 648 yards rushing and five TDs this season. He had 62 yards on 18 carries in last week’s loss against West Virginia.
Evans posted four consecutive 100-yard games against Cal, SMU, Texas and Texas Tech, the program’s first running back to accomplish that feat since 2002.
TCU travels to Kansas State on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. in Manhattan.
