TCU injury report: CB Noah Daniels expected to play today vs. Texas
TCU football’s secondary is expected to get a boost today vs. Texas.
Noah Daniels, arguably the team’s top NFL Draft prospect, is expected to make his season debut. Daniels is not expected to start but is available. Along with Daniels, defensive end Khari Coleman is another significant contributor back on defense.
C.J. Ceasar II is expected to start at cornerback opposite Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson. Daniels will be on a pitch count for today’s game.
In other defensive back news, TCU will be without safeties Deshawn McCuin and Bud Clark. The starting safeties are expected to be La’Kendrick Van Zandt at strong, T.J. Carter at free and Nook Bradford at weak.
TCU will be without defensive tackle Corey Bethley for a second straight game. That’s a big blow to the interior defensive line that was torched by SMU’s rushing attack for 350 yards last week. But the Frogs will have George Ellis III and Coleman available.
Coleman had 15 tackles for loss as a true freshman last season, and should help improve the Frogs’ pass rush.
Offensively, TCU will be without right guard Wes Harris. Brandon Coleman is expected to start in Harris’ spot.
Center Steve Avila, who exited the SMU game with an injury, is dressed but working with the second-team offense during pregame warmups. Coy McMillon will be the starting center today.
