TCU baseball home games are at 35% capacity now, but that could increase ‘soon’

TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati is hopeful that baseball capacity will increase as the season progresses.

As of now, TCU home games are capped at approximately 35% capacity, around 1,300 fans, at Lupton Stadium.

“We remain hopeful to increase that this spring,” Donati said. “However we need to be patient and understand that these decisions are made thoughtfully and collectively. When the time is right, we’ll give more fans the opportunity to attend our games. We all want that. I’m optimistic that changes are coming, and coming soon.”

Texas became one of the first states to fully reopen last week, but TCU hasn’t changed its COVID policies when it comes to hosting events. Fans are still required to submit to temperature checks at the gate, and social distancing is implemented throughout the stadium. Masks are also required for entry and must be worn except when eating or drinking.

The baseball team is scheduled to host four more home games this month. Tarleton State comes to town for a game next Tuesday followed by the Big 12 series opener against Baylor March 26-28.

April features seven home games with a series against Oklahoma State April 16-18, a midweek game against UT-Arlington on April 20 and a series against Kansas April 23-25.

The Frogs are off to an 11-6 start, routing Arkansas-Pine Bluff 20-2 in seven innings on Tuesday night. They open a three-game series at Louisiana on Friday at 6 p.m.
