TCU football still without Spielman, Brooks for Texas Tech game

The TCU football team continues to deal with a number of injuries this season.

Against Texas Tech, the Horned Frogs will be without transfers JD Spielman and Marcel Brooks.

Spielman, one of the top returners in the Big 12, has missed three consecutive games with an undisclosed injury. Brooks, who has versatility to play all three levels of the defense, will be missing his fourth straight game.

Derius Davis, who returned a punt for a touchdown last week at Baylor, is expected to continue as the team’s punt returner.

TCU will also be without cornerback Kee’yon Stewart, as that position group has taken a hit of late. Along with Stewart, Noah Daniels sustained a season-ending injury in the Oklahoma game and Tony Wallace opted out.

That means C.J. Ceasar will be the starting cornerback opposite Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson today.

Other notable news on the injury front is freshman running back Kendre Miller being a game-time decision, and defensive tackle George Ellis being sidelined.

With Ellis and Corey Bethley out along the D-line, TCU is expected to start Terrell Cooper and Soni Misi at defensive tackle.

TCU and Texas Tech kickoff at 2:30 p.m. today.
