How former TCU players fared during NFL’s Week 3: Ty Summers leads Packers in tackles

Anybody who watched Ty Summers at TCU knows he’s a tackling machine. Summers had 319 tackles in his stellar college career.

So, when Green Bay Packers linebacker Christian Kirksey went down with an injury on Sunday night, it came as no surprise to see Summers piling up the tackles. In fact, he ended up leading the Packers with nine tackles in their victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Summers was among a number of former Frogs making their presence felt in the NFL’s Week 3. Here’s a look at how all the Horned Frogs fared:

Ben Banogu, DE, Indianapolis Colts: Banogu had one tackle in the Colts’ victory over the New York Jets. He played in 24 defensive snaps.

Ross Blacklock, DT, Houston Texans: Inactive.

L.J. Collier, DE, Seattle Seahawks: Collier made his third career start, registering one quarterback hit in the Seahawks’ victory over the Dallas Cowboys. He played 46 of 82 defensive snaps.

Andy Dalton, QB, Dallas Cowboys: Dalton was active, but did not play in the Cowboys’ loss to the Seahawks.

Jeff Gladney, CB, Minnesota Vikings: Gladney, a first-round pick by the Vikings, made his second straight start in a 31-30 loss to the Tennessee Titans. He finished with five tackles, including one tackle for loss, and one pass defensed. Gladney was beaten on a 61-yard pass play by Kalif Raymond.

Jerry Hughes, DE, Buffalo Bills: The veteran had two tackles and played 43 of 69 defensive snaps in the Bills’ victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Joe Noteboom, OL, Los Angeles Rams: Placed on injured reserve (calf) last week.

Matt Pryor, OG/OT, Philadelphia Eagles: Pryor started at left guard and played every offensive snap, but had a costly false start penalty that pushed the Eagles out of field goal range in overtime. Philadelphia and Cincinnati tied 23-23.

Jalen Reagor, WR, Philadelphia Eagles: Inactive (underwent thumb surgery last week).

Austin Schlottmann, OG/C, Denver Broncos: Schlottmann saw action on two special teams plays in the Broncos’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Vernon Scott, S, Green Bay Packers: Scott played exclusively on special teams during the Packers’ victory over the New Orleans Saints, registering one special teams tackle on 15 snaps.

Ty Summers, LB, Green Bay Packers: Summers led the Packers with nine tackles in their victory over the Saints. Summers played 44 of 61 defensive snaps, as well as 19 snaps on special teams.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai, OT, Detroit Lions: Made his first start of the season at right guard, playing all 67 offensive reps in the Lions’ victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Jason Verrett, CB, San Francisco 49ers: Made his first start of the season, registering three tackles and one QB hit in the 49ers’ victory over the New York Giants. Verrett played 45 of 52 defensive snaps.
