TCU lands two more commits for 2020 class, including top-rated JUCO dual-threat QB

TCU football landed two more commitments for its 2020 class on Monday.

Stephon Brown, the top-rated JUCO dual-threat quarterback, and Kendre Miller, an athlete who is expected to play running back at the next level, announced their intentions to play for the Horned Frogs.

Brown and Miller became the 16th and 17th commits for the 2020 class, and TCU’s class is now ranked No. 29 in the country by 247Sports.

Brown, who is 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, joins TCU from Independence Community College in Kansas. He threw for 1,430 yards with 16 touchdowns, and rushed for 546 yards and seven TDs last season.

At Glenn High School in Kernersville, North Carolina, Brown threw for more than 10,000 yards in his standout high school career.

Brown will provide much-needed depth at the quarterback position after the Frogs saw Justin Rogers and Mike Collins transfer.

“I like this pick up a lot for the Frogs,” said Jeremy Clark, recruiting expert and publisher of 247Sports’ Horned Frog Blitz. “He fits their system perfectly as a dual-threat. We’ve got him ranked as the No. 1 JUCO dual-threat in the nation for a reason — he throws the ball well, especially vertically, and he makes a lot of good plays with his feet. He can improvise on the go to make plays.

“For the Frogs to get this type of player this late is a big steal for them. I think Brown has a high ceiling.”

Miller, meanwhile, is rated as the No. 122 athlete in the country by 247Sports. He played quarterback at Mount Enterprise, but posted impressive rushing numbers with 2,508 yards and 34 TDs.

He is the second running back of TCU’s class, joining Dominic Richardson.

“This is another hidden gem the Frogs,” Clark said. “Miller comes from a tiny East Texas town, but for those that have followed recruiting over the years, no matter the size of the town, East Texas produces players.

“Miller is a phenomenal athlete that made plays on both sides of the ball for his team. He’s not the fastest running back, but he’s got a lot of power and with his frame. I could see him developing into a 220-pound type back.”

TCU coach Gary Patterson is expected to announce his class and discuss it Wednesday on National Signing Day.
