Former TCU star Trevone Boykin back in jail, facing new charges of misdemeanor theft
Former TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin has been arrested again, according to Tarrant County Jail records.
Boykin is currently being held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center (Green Bay Facility) on a number of charges, including two misdemeanor theft charges made against him Monday.
A Tarrant County jail spokesperson said Boykin had yet to post bond and remained in custody as of Thursday morning.
The misdemeanor theft charges stem from Boykin selling TCU memorabilia but not delivering the promised merchandise after buyers paid for it. One person paid Boykin $250 through the cash app Venmo for a jersey, while another paid $315 for a ring and a jersey.
Boykin never delivered the items.
Bond amounts for those charges total $1,000 ($500 each). No court date has been set for the misdemeanor theft charges.
Records also indicate a misdemeanor charge for alleged theft of service that has a $750 bond.
NBC 5 reports that this charge is related to Boykin not paying an Arlington hotel for an Oct. 29 stay, allegedly using an alias when checking in.
Boykin faces three other charges, stemming from a pending domestic violence case in Tarrant County with those bonds totaling $100,000. He faces aggravated assault of a family member with a weapon ($60,000 bond), tampering with a witness in a family violence case ($15,000 bond) and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury ($25,000 bond).
A court date has been set for February 25 for those charges.
Boykin was accused of domestic violence by a girlfriend, Shabrika Bailey, who alleged Boykin broke her jaw during an argument in March 2018.
Mansfield police arrested Boykin on suspicion of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury. Boykin denied the allegations and posted bond, but the Seattle Seahawks released him shortly after.
Boykin has been in the news for off-field trouble since his TCU days.
At the end of his senior season at TCU, Boykin was arrested in San Antonio after he allegedly punched a police officer in a bar fight on Dec. 31, 2015, two days before TCU was to play in the 2016 Alamo Bowl.
He pleaded no contest to a charge of resisting arrest in June 2016 and received one year of deferred adjudication probation.
Boykin was also arrested in March 2017 following an incident in which he was a passenger in a car that hit Sidebar Bar in Dallas, plus seven people on a sidewalk. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and public intoxication, according to Dallas County Jail records.
Boykin ended his career at TCU as the holder of several Horned Frogs records: career passing yards (10,728), completions (830) and pass attempts (1,356), and the single-season record for passing yards (3,901).
He went on to play two seasons in the NFL with the Seahawks (2016-17). Boykin appeared in five games during the 2016 season, going 13 of 18 for 145 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
