TCU

How many TCU athletes does it take to screw in a light bulb? Probation draws mixed reaction.

The news that the NCAA slapped TCU with a one-year probation penalty drew mostly a mixed reaction of yawns, faux outrage and simpleton responses on social media.

Of course, you had a segment of confused readers who knee-jerked over the headline without reading the details, which can, you know, help add context. For instance, TCU self-reported the violations. And if you do the math, the money the involved athletes were paid for hours they didn’t work is minuscule.

But that didn’t stop a lot of people on social media, especially fans from other schools, to take some dumb shots at the Horned Frogs. Some Missouri fans feel the NCAA was way too lenient on the Frogs when comparing the its recent NCAA penalties. But it’s probably a good bet that most Tigers fans didn’t read the details of TCU’s case.

Many, however, think the NCAA overreacted, and it’s hard to argue with them. If you don’t think similar things are happening at every major athletic department in the nation you’re living in a fantasy land.
