TCU football signs one more 2020 recruit during early signing period
TCU football landed one more 2020 recruit during the early signing period on Friday.
Manor defensive tackle Tyler Guyton sent in his paperwork, becoming the 16th member of the Horned Frogs’ 2020 class.
Guyton is listed at 6-foot-6, 275 pounds and could have position flexibility, whether it’s on the O-line or D-line in the future.
Guyton does not have a ranking on 247Sports.
Guyton helped Manor reach the quarterfinals of the Class 5A, Division I playoffs this season. SMU is another school that showed interest in Guyton.
The Horned Frogs have one other player on their roster from Manor in defensive end Ochaun Mathis.
The early signing period ends today. The traditional signing day remains the first Wednesday in Febuary (Feb. 5, 2020).
TCU has the No. 29-ranked recruiting class in the country, and No. 3 in the Big 12 according to 247Sports.
Early enrollees
TCU will have six recruits enroll early and arrive on campus in January.
Those include offensive linemen Brandon Coleman and Altrique Barlow; linebacker Jamoi Hodge; and defensive linemen Khari Coleman, Patrick Jenkins and Jaquaze Sorrells.
FWAA honors
More postseason accolades were handed out to TCU players this week.
The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) All-America team had Jeff Gladney as its second-team cornerback and Jalen Reagor as its second-team punt returner.
Gladney led the Horned Frogs with 14 pass breakups this season, and 15 passes defended. He’s accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl next month.
Reagor, meanwhile, returned two punts for touchdowns this season. He averaged 20.8 yards per punt return, which ranked second in the nation and set a TCU record that had been held for 50 years by Linzy Cole (20.4 yards in 1969).
Reagor, who declared for the NFL Draft as an early entrant shortly after the season, also leaves TCU as the career leader in punt return average at 17.8 yards. That record previously belonged to Blanard Spearman, who averaged 16.0 yards from 1930-32.
