TCU sees a couple commits flip, including a WR going to rival SMU

TCU football had success flipping four-star wide receiver Quentin Johnston from his original pledge to Texas earlier this week.

Well, TCU was on the other end with a couple three-star commits — wide receiver Danny Gray and athlete Jimmy Holiday — flipping to other programs on Wednesday, the first day of the NCAA’s early signing period.

Neither ranked as a significant surprise as both were known to be considering other schools in recent weeks.

Gray backed out of his pledge to TCU to sign with rival SMU. Gray, a three-star prospect out of Blinn College, had been committed since June.

But he opted to change course, pointing to conversations he’s had with the SMU coaching staff.

Holiday, meanwhile, is listed as an athlete but wanted to play quarterback at the next level. He opted to pursue that at Tennessee.

TCU still has locked in 10 commits early on who have sent in their national letters of intent, highlighted by four-star prospects in Johnston, cornerback Keontae Jenkins and offensive tackle Garrett Hayes.
