TCU great Matt Carpenter stars in touching Mother’s Day spots

When St. Louis Cardinals slugger and TCU alumnus Matt Carpenter hit is first-career grand slam in April 2017, the first person he called was mom Tammie.

“Oh, Matt. That was awesome!” Tammie Carpenter said by phone after Carpenter hit his first-career grand slam on April 27, 2017. “I’m so proud of you, buddy.”

The 30-second spot is part of Mother’s Day collection of advertisements from Budweiser. Others include the Athletics’ Khris Davis hitting his first-career grand slam in May 2016 (against the Rangers) and the Yankees’ Luis Severino completing his first shutout in 2018. All of them include audio of the players calling their moms after the momentous game.
