Gary Patterson has a sense of humor.
And he’s never been afraid to let people know about it on Twitter.
Tuesday night was no exception.
Early in the evening, ESPN released the latest College Football Playoff ranking. You can see it here.
Right now, No. 5 Oklahoma (11-1) and No. 6 Ohio State (11-1) occupy the fifth and sixth spots in the ranking, respectively.
OU and OSU are favored to win the Big 12 Championship and Big Ten Championship, respectively.
But Max Olson, a national college football writer for The Athletic, speculated about how the CFB Playoff committee might vote in one future scenario.
“If there’s one thing I know about the CFP, it’s that there is no way the Big 12 champ will be jumped by Ohio State at the last minute,” Olson tweeted.
It seems as though Olson’s comment was a sarcastic reference to when the committee gave the final playoff spot to No. 5 Ohio State over No. 3 TCU team in 2014. Both teams had one loss, but the Big 12 did not have a conference title game at the time.
And Patterson found Olson’s joke amusing.
