Did the thief who raided TCU’s football locker room obtain football-sensitive material?

TCU police are still searching for a man who stole thousands of dollars worth of electronics from the lockers of TCU football players on Sept. 11.

Coach Gary Patterson addressed the robbery for the first time on Tuesday, and shot down any notion that football-sensitive information could have been obtained. He didn’t seem concerned that potential access to playbooks or game plans may have been contained in the stolen property.

“Oh, no,” Patterson said. “We don’t have anything like that downstairs anyways.”

Patterson said the team has “gone on with our lives” since the incident.

“We have lockboxes so you think there’s a few places in your life that are safe,” Patterson said. “Obviously that’s not safe.”

The suspect is believed to have conducted a similar theft from the SMU football team’s locker room on Sept. 4.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to call Detective Mike McCormack at 817-257-7050 or, if he is seen on campus, the TCU Police Department immediately at 817-257-7777.

The TCU football team begins Big 12 play on Saturday with a game at Texas at 3:30 p.m.
