These football recruits could be TCU's next commitments
TCU football recruiting has built plenty of momentum over the last few weeks.
The Horned Frogs have secured verbal commitments from four players since the beginning of the month including, three-star linebacker Zach Marcheselli (Broken Arrow, Okla.), three-star wide receiver Kennedy Lewis (Melissa, TX), three-star safety Deshawn McCuin (Jacksonville, TX), and three-star running back Daimarqua Foster (Wichita Falls/Hirschi).
Those additions have Gary Patterson's program sitting with the No. 25 class in the country for 2019, according to 247Sports.
But who could be next?
Aledo defensive end Colt Ellison is the player TCU fans should most closely be watching. The 6-foot-4, 240 pounder has recently taken official visits to TCU and Washington, and took an unofficial visit to Ole Miss a few weeks ago. He'll likely take an OV to Washington before announcing his decision, which should come before the beginning of the season.
The three-star has 75 percent of his Crystal Ball predictions on 247Sports going toward TCU. Notre Dame has the remaining 25 percent.
He has offers from TCU, Notre Dame, Washington, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Penn State, SMU, Tennessee, Texas State, Texas Tech, UTSA, Tulsa, UCF, Utah, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.
Ellison is the No. 399 player overall, No. 29 weakside defensive end, and No. 46 player in Texas, according to 247.
Frisco Reedy tight end Nolan Matthews is another name to keep track of.
The three-star prospect (6-3, 232) is one of, if not the top TE target for TCU in 2019. And the interest seems mutual as Matthews has visited the Horned Frogs twice in the last month.
Matthews is rated as the No. 51 TE overall and No. 165 player in Texas, per 247. Arizona State, Iowa State, and Ole Miss are likely to be TCU's top competition.
He has offers from Arizona State, Iowa State, TCU, Air Force, Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, SMU, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State, Tulane, Utah, Utah State, UTSA, and Wyoming.
Another name for TCU to keep tabs on is three-star running back Darwin Barlow (Newton High School).
The No. 27 RB in the country has his choice of several Power Five offers, including Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Baylor, Louisville, LSU, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and Utah. He's made official visits to Arkansas, Minnesota, and Oklahoma State recently.
TCU has 67 percent of his Crystal Ball predictions.
He rushed for 2,246 yards and 38 touchdowns last season.
