TCU women blitzed by No. 3 Baylor in first Big 12 tournament semifinals appearance
The TCU women's basketball team, making its first appearance in the Big 12 tournament semifinals, couldn't cool off top-seeded Baylor on Sunday in a 94-48 loss at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
The Horned Frogs (19-12) have sustained eight losses this season against ranked opponents, including five against top-10 teams and three to the No. 3 Bears (30-3) in the past three weeks.
The game went back-and-forth early, but TCU missed six straight shots late in the first quarter and Baylor converted 9-of-12 free throws to grab a commanding 28-13 lead.
The Horned Frogs struggled to find offensive rhythm, shooting just over 32 percent from the field for the game and scoring only five points in the third period.
Baylor made six consecutive shots to start the fourth quarter to extend its lead to 46 points.
Baylor outrebounded TCU 49-19 and owned a 54-22 advantage on points in the paint.
Amy Okonkwo and Jordan Moore scored 12 points apiece as the only Horned Frogs in double figures.
TCU will await its postseason fate as tournament selections will be announced March 12. The Frogs will be making their 15th postseason appearance in the last 18 seasons.
