TCU is bringing an NFL pedigree to its 2018 signing class with the addition of John Stephens Jr., the son of a former New England Patriots running back and stepbrother of reigning U.S. Open tennis champion Sloane Stephens.

Stephens Jr. is a three-star receiver from Logansport, La., who could be one of the tallest offensive skill position players on the team next season. He is 6-foot-4, 195 pounds and rated the 29th-best player in Louisiana by 247Sports.com.

His father, John Stephens Sr., was the 1988 NFL rookie of the year after a 1,000-yard rushing season for the Patriots. He died in 2009 in a one-vehicle accident outside Shreveport when his son was 8.

Stephens Jr. also held offers from Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
